I Am From Poem
I am from the blankets
From maseca and fabuloso
I am from the big ranch with a tiny house, where the goats, roosters, and dogs wake you up at 7 am
I am from sunflowers with bright yellow petals
I'm from dia de Muertos and piel morena, From Zulma and Hernandez Nieto
I'm from the sense of humor and having dinner as a family
From sana sana colita de rana si no sanas hoy sanarás mañana and si lo encuentro que te hago
I'm from la virgen de Guadalupe, our mother of Mexico and Latin America
I'm from Oaxaca, Mexico, mole, mezcal
From the cake fight on Tio's birthday that ended with no cake leftover to eat
The long afternoons after school and work watching telenovelas on the couch with my mother, tias, and uncles
The walls filled with family memories that will live in my heart forever.
Six Word Memoir

Strength, gained by hardships in life
Since I can remember, I have faced many tough situations that have shaped me into the person that I am today. At a really young age, I was experiencing physical and metal abuse by people close to me. My mind was not in the right environment, which caused me to become depressed and have internal issues with myself at a really young age. Everything that I was going through was by myself because I couldn't comprehend what was happening to me. It was a rough patch to go through as a little girl, but when I was able to get the help I needed, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I can say that the situations that I was put in have made me stronger, as well as given me a purpose in life. Now that I look back in time, I am thankful for the hardships that were in my past because without those dark events, I wouldn't be who I am today.
